The Science Of Peace →
For all you Reading Rainbow fans LeVar Burton is back at it. He is the host of the new documentary The Science Of Peace. It’s a pretty interesting concept that explains how peace is an instinct or needs to be an instinct for our world to change. Watch the trailer for the documentary on the site.
Ed Shoots →
Photography by Ed McCulloch. A lot of times I look at photography and think “eh, that’s cool” but Ed’s stuff in down right gorgeous. The shots look so simple even though I’m sure he put tons of work into them. Also, I guess you can get a free “ED” patch if you click the “ED Patch” box. I can’t wait to get mine.
Design At 90 MPH
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about how sometimes I wish I would of studied graphic design instead of glassblowing in college. I love the way stuff is put together. Everything from posters, disposable coffee cups, cigarette packs, meat packing paper, fruit boxes, it’s just all so damn beautiful. It’s just everyday stuff but someone had to sit there and figure out...
The Packwood Sessions →
Damien Jurado, David Bazan, J. Tillman, Rosie Thomas, The Long Winters, Rocky Votolato, Jen Wood, The Beautiful Clarks, Siberian, and Troubletown all in a cabin outside of Packwood, WA playing each other’s songs. On the site they only have 30 second samples but man does it sound good.
EastCoast Extraordinaire →
You may know, the late great, Jon Zerkle. He has now entered the blog world. Check it out.

Covered In Dust
The dust rests calmly on the marron blinds from the 80s. Set just apart to let the washed gray sky bleed through. Little flakes fall in a motion that mimics children pretending to be airplanes with their arms stretched out twisting and turning. It hits the ground and like many things in life is gone instantly with no trace of its once beautiful existence. An old weathered fence holds the trees in...

Damn Ian Jer Auto
The other night I realized once again why I love Damien Jurado. Especially after seeing him play a whole set live now I am reassured in my thoughts. The guy doesn’t beat around the bush. He doesn’t try to do anything that he doesn’t think is needed. I could be wrong but he seems like a very simple man.
All of his songs are pretty simple and drift around the same few chords but...
Ohio is my favorite Jurado song. I was hoping he would play it and what do you know it was the first song. I saw that capo on the 4th fret and he played one chord for a soundcheck and I thought “no way is he going to play it first?” Sure enough he did, he changed it up a little but still a great song.

Five Albums To Check Out
Five albums I’ve been checking out lately. So fresh to my ears that I can’t give more of a definition of them. I can’t say if they are good or bad, however, if they were awful I wouldn’t make it through the whole album. I’d say they are all solid, but not all for everyone.

Beers High On Low
Molson Canadian Premium Lager: One of my favorite beers to drink. There is nothing special about it. It’s merely a simple lager that holds that amber transparent tint. It goes down smooth and it only costs about $10 for a 12 pack. I absolutely love the contrast of the bright red maple leaf resting ontop of the white background. They are pretty witty about there labels too. The bottle used to...

Back Northleft
Made it back to Seattle after a refreshing holiday in Richmond. I thank everyone who had anything to do with me having a grand old time at home. As much as home will keep changing forever and ever it will always be home.
Seattle’s welcome back to me was providing little to no sunlight until around 9am on my first day back working. I woke up around 7:30am and it was dark which was no biggie....

Two Halves Of A Man
I’ve been gone from VA for the majority of the past five years of my life living in Indiana and most recently Washington. From this time apart has come the development of what feels almost like two lives. Maybe not lives because I’m the same person in both places, but instead two halves of one life. I have my VA friends and I have my IN friends and I suppose they have been separated for to long....

A Rolling Stone Really Gathers No Moss
I’ve come home to my hometown of Mechanicsville, VA where I spent the first 18 years of my life. I went to elementary school right down the road and I went to middle and high school down the road and to the right a couple times. I’ve had a great life living out here. I really have nothing to complain about growing up here. I know while I was here it sucked and I didn’t really like high school at...
Airplanes And The Art Of Keeping Sanity
Right now I’m flying miles above the country traveling back to the old stomping grounds of Richmond, VA. I haven’t been to Richmond since last Christmas I think. After a while all of those college breaks start to blur together in my mind. I honestly can’t seem to remember how many times I’ve flown because there is nothing to characterize any of the actual flying experiences. They are all the same....
